I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with High Honors in English. Currently, I am pursuing my dream to teach English Literature at an university and hope to earn both a Masters and Doctoral degree from Stanford University. I have seven years of experience tutoring middle school, high school and college students in the subjects that I am most passionate about – English, Literature and History. My tutoring style is highly collaborative: I love to engage students in lively discussions about literature, to raise questions about texts and to find evidence that supports the various interpretations that can be derived from a piece of writing. I am dedicated to helping individuals enjoy the process of becoming the strongest readers and writers she or he can be — my goal is for each tutoring session to be fun, enriching and, most importantly, to build the student’s skill set and confidence. When assisting with essays and critical reading assignments, I emphasize the importance of discovery in the writing process: by working together to develop a solid argument, refine drafts, and choose the best words and ways to convey the student’s ideas, I aim to increase the student’s awareness of her/his own interests, opinions and means of substantiating those points. I am committed to supporting students and strengthening the foundation for their future success by providing frameworks and methods that can be applied to other assignments and subjects. In my spare time, I enjoy fashion (especially, shoes), yoga, hiking, cooking, baking, reading contemporary literature, driving fast cars, and playing backgammon.
