I am a recent medical school graduate. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Molecular and Cellular Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies. Wanting to travel and experience living abroad for a while, I opted to pursue my post-graduate studies in the United Kingdom, earning a Master of Science from Imperial College London with an emphasis on the History of Science and Medicine. I really enjoyed living overseas and had heard great things about the outdoor oriented lifestyle in New Zealand. After completing my Master's degree, I moved to New Zealand where I studied medicine and traveled throughout the country. Upon completing the last of my clinical rotations, I moved back to the U.S. to get more research experience as a research assistant in Stanford University's Department of Anesthesia. As the Winter break approached, I relocated to Los Angeles, originally my hometown, to spend time with family and prepare for the US Medical Licensing Exams, which I will be taking later this year. On the side, I enjoy getting outside as much as possible to hike or mountain bike. When I can’t get outside, I enjoy reading and cooking.
As an undergraduate, I tutored extensively to help pay my tuition, often tutoring students in my own classes. I tutored a broad range of subjects, including College Algebra and Calculus, General and Organic Chemistry, Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, English and Philosophy. More recently, I worked as a teaching assistant and writing tutor at Auckland University of Technology while I completed medical school. I am passionate about teaching. Teachers have had a significant impact in my life since I was young, and I have always felt motivated to contribute to young people in a similar way. Moreover, I know how enjoyable learning can be when the material is presented in a way that is best suited to the individual student’s strengths. And I know from experience how fun learning can be when success is achieved. As with many things, when it comes to learning, success begets success.
