I am a graduate of Bowdoin College, a liberal arts school located in Brunswick, Maine. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies, a cross-disciplinary major that covers subjects as diverse as English, Sociology, Education, History, and Art. I recently finished my Master of Arts (Religion) from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I spent six years in South Korea after I graduated from college tutoring both children and adults in English conversation and reading comprehension. I've also had more recent experience in the States helping high school seniors write their college essays as well as prepare for the reading comprehension section of the SAT. I enjoy helping students identify prominent themes and structures in their readings as well as articulate their viewpoints and craft narratives in their writing. I've loved to read from an early age and some of my favorite books include The Power Broker, by Robert Caro, Love in the Time of Cholera, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and Underworld, by Don Delillo (although I just finished the Vampire Apocalypse-themed book, The Passage, by Justin Cronin, and loved it!). I believe that we benefit not only from what we learn, but also by what we learn about ourselves in the process of learning. I love NBA basketball, comic books, TV shows, movies, and playing ultimate frisbee.
