I am a graduate of The University of Pennsylvania, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communications. I went on to obtain two Masters degrees in a dual-degree program by two universities (the London School of Economics and Political Science, where I earned a Master of Science, and The University of Southern California, where I earned a Master of Arts, both degrees in Global Media and Communications). During my time as an undergraduate at Penn, I worked extensively with students of all kinds as a mentor and tutor, helping incoming and current freshman manage their homework and class loads, as well as advising them on college life and resources. I worked as a tutor even before these experiences, as a counselor to middle schoolers during my final two years in high school. I also currently work with an after school program as a college admissions counselor, prepping students on how to handle the college application process and tutoring them on test taking tactics and writing tips and practices. I have had a passion all my life for teaching, and pursuing that passion through tutoring has been a long-held goal that I am very excited to have finally met!
While I can tutor in the range of subjects most standardized testing at the high school level requires, my main strengths lay in English language, Literature, Critical Reading and Writing. When working with students, I strive to foster a comfortable rapport so they will learn to trust me and find me likable while still respecting me as a teacher and mentor. I create one-on-one strategies tailored to helping each student with his or her individual needs and challenges. No cookie-cutter strategies here! Each student is unique and needs to be handled according to what will help him or her the most. Outside of academia, I have an intense interest in music, and spend a lot of my free time on USC's campus singing in various choirs and vocal groups. I also occasionally write music of my own! I also consider myself something of a budding chef.
