Phoebe

I graduated early from Washington University in Saint Louis, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Psychology with a concentration in Cognitive Neuroscience. My experience includes work as a peer mentor and note taker at Washington University, where I assisted other students in my classes with essay planning and writing, and multiple summers as an assistant trainer at Jigsaw Farms Riding Academy in Los Angeles. Currently I tutor the Critical Reading and Writing sections of the PSAT, ACT, and SAT Standardized Tests. Horse camp may have nothing to do with the SAT’s, but it was where I first discovered that I love to teach, and I bring that passion to work with me every day. I have always thought the Critical Reading sections of standardized tests were genuinely interesting (which makes them a pleasure to teach!), but I am most enthusiastic when I get to prepare students for the Writing portions of the exams. I believe students can write a fantastic essay if they master the organization and structure behind their writing. An education is the most important tool a person can acquire to enrich and empower themselves throughout their life, and I try to express my enthusiasm and passion for lifelong learning to all of my students. I can’t live without yoga or a great book, and I spend a lot of time hanging out with the people I love.
