Marissa

I am a senior at UCLA, studying Art History, Russian Language and Culture, and Digital Humanities. I love it here at UCLA and don't want to leave. However, I have big plans for after graduation. This coming summer, I plan to travel to Russia and South America, where I hope to "WWOOF" (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms), among other things. Once I have had my fill of travel and adventure, I hope to return to school and get a degree either in Graphic Design or in Urban Planning. I am extremely passionate about interdisciplinary studies, especially where art and science/technology is concerned. I believe that art can be used as a tool for communication and social change both on micro- and macro-social scales. As far as tutoring is concerned, I have extensive experience teaching everything (and everyone) from piano to essay-writing to beginning chemistry. I hope to instill a love and excitement for whatever subject I am tutoring with my students by tailoring each lesson plan to his/her specific learning style and personal interests. Every subject can be made into a dynamic learning and growing opportunity! When I'm not studying or teaching, you can find me practicing yoga or playing a pick-up game of soccer with my friends. I love the outdoors and make it a point to explore the entire coastline of California whenever I can. I'm always on social media, from tumblr to twitter, and especially love seeing a good concert. When I'm not out exploring Los Angeles, I can be found at home playing guitar or reading a classic novel.
