I earned my Bachelor’s Degree at Bard College where I studied Studio Art and Sociology. I have over ten years of experience in youth development and a deep passion for teaching. My background includes five years as an English and History tutor at the Making Waves Education Program, where I helped urban high school and middle school students refine their reading, writing, and test taking skills. In my time there I watched even the most jaded and disheartened students transform into independent, confident learners. I valued the opportunity to forge relationships with so many students of different backgrounds and I take what I learned from them wherever I go.
I like to approach tutoring with the same creativity and excitement that I bring to making art. Whether it's using games, visual worksheets, or multi-media as tools, I strive to tailor my approach to the learning styles and interests of each student. For me, I can get excited teaching almost any subject because I am most passionate about helping students learn how to be better learners, so that as they encounter future material that is seemingly boring or too challenging they will be equipped with the skills to engage confidently on a path to success.
Outside of teaching I have an avid interest in the arts. In my spare time I can be found busily painting away in my studio, or bicycling around the city visiting different cultural events. I also love to cook, read and listen to music.
