I am a graduate of the Teacher Education Program at California State University, Long Beach. I hold two professional teaching credentials: A Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and a Single Subject Teaching Credential -- English. I also did my undergraduate work at California State University, Long Beach earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre Arts (Acting and Directing). Being a full-time, credentialed teacher; a professional tutor; a substitute teacher; a student teacher; a summer camp counselor; and a choreographer for youth summer stock, has helped me realize my joy for teaching and working with young people. My qualifications include working in the public schools as an English and drama teacher. I have also enjoyed being a professional tutor, working with a large variety of young people from Kindergarten through 12th Grade. A big percentage of my past tutoring students have been below grade level in math and / or English. It has been very rewarding for me to see my students master new skills and concepts and see their test scores improve dramatically. Not only do my students gain better comprehension of the academic material, but I have also found that after completing our tutoring sessions, they are better test takers too. I have a good personality and demeanor for teaching, as I am very calm and have a lot of patience. I believe that by giving praise and positive support to students they can be successful in school – and in life! I enjoy reading, exercising, and spending quality time with friends and family.
