What is your teaching philosophy?
Building a strong foundation is key! In order to do this, we need to approach the topic with examples and plenty of practice. It takes time, but it is well worth it. Developing good study habits is also another important trait I want to help foster in my students. It's important to set goals and figure out the best method to complete them. I believe this is an important life skill to have in order to succeed as a student and whatever career path they may choose in the future.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Typically, I will ask them what they think their weak points are and how they would like me to help them. Then, I would like to see their recent quizzes, exams, and homework in order to gauge where they stand with the subject material. I usually have the student decide on what they want to go over and choose to focus on for the rest of the session.
