I'm a recent graduate of the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Cinema and Media Studies and a background in all things humanities. I also studied English literature, poetry, and creative writing. After growing up on the east coast in South Florida, then attending college in the Midwest, I've finally made it all the way to the west coast and am a recent transplant to Los Angeles.
My tutoring experience started as far back as I can remember with my very own sister who is 4 years younger than me. I helped her with everything from fractions, to AP homework, to college applications and essays. In high school I was a volunteer peer tutor in subjects ranging from algebra to English, and even to this day my high school friends still send me their essays to proofread! In college I spent 2 years as a student-teacher for a volunteer-run after school arts program in local South Side Chicago elementary schools, where we taught children fundamental concepts and themes in fine art and how to express those in their own art projects. Most recently this past summer after graduating college I interned for a summer production program where I worked with South Side Chicago high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, on the script-to-screen process of making a short film for the first time in 5 weeks.
As a high school senior I was extremely self-motivated, albeit obsessed, with college and did all the research and test prep myself. Now that I’ve made it to the other side after having graduated from a top 5 university I’m ready to impart my knowledge and strategies onto other students. I remember how stressful the college application process can be when the stakes are so high. The best way to go through it is to be as motivated and prepared as possible, and I want to help other students put themselves in the best possible position to succeed while staying sane!
