MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
I recently completed my Master's degree in Secondary English Education, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors, and I am a PA certified teacher (English, Grades 7-12). I am currently enrolled in the Reading Specialist Certification program at La Salle University.
I do not believe that there is such a thing as an "average" student. I believe that each student is unique; no two students learn in exactly the same way. When the goal is common, deep understanding of the same material by all students in a classroom, it is imperative that the individual needs and abilities of each student are addressed to the best of the teacher's ability. For this reason, I believe that the most effective way for students to learn is individually with an experienced facilitator or in small groups with others who share similar interests, though not necessarily similar understandings or experiences.
I have experience working in enrichment and remediation programs with students from grades 3 through 12, and I believe that the primary goal of education should be to help every student to achieve his or her highest potential. I am passionate about education and I believe that a good education is the most important tool you can give to a child to ensure his or her future success.
