I am passionate about teaching, and believe in hidden potential in every student. As a math and physics graduate of a liberal arts college, and having taught in them, I am committed to a broad education in science/humanities, and try to inculcate a value for learning for its own sake. I believe that students who are well prepared in both quantitative and verbal expression, think actively, and get into the habit of connecting the things they have learned, will have the raw material to excel in life, wherever it takes them.

I went on from college to do a PhD in Physics at the University of Rochester, and that took me into an academic career for 6 years, where I taught students at Swarthmore College and Princeton University. I am also a professional writer, with over a dozen articles in technical and popular science, and bring deep scholarship to my teaching philosophy. My approach consists of understanding each student's background, and developing an individualized curriculum that we can work on through focused meetings, assignments and interactive feedback. I tutor all areas of Math, Science and English, and am working with students from middle school through graduate school. I am a very positive person, and believe nothing is impossible.

On the personal side, my hobbies include reading literature and philosophy, and creative writing. I aspire to be a full time writer someday, and to combine my experiences in travel and culture with a passion to communicate. I have lived all over the world, so feel that I can relate to anyone in all walks of life, and this is my greatest strength.
