MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
I will be attending graduate school in the fall to work toward a PhD in Biomedical Sciences in order to do research and teach in the future. I love teaching because I love learning and I have found that through teaching one can profoundly deepen their understanding of something. I have worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant for human physiology and anatomy for the last year. I have also tutored general chemistry. In addition, I worked as the Sports Editor for the Chicago Flame Newspaper where I was able to spend much time practicing my writing skills. When teaching I like to provoke students into answering their own questions by leading them towards the answer. I have worked in a Human Memory and Cognition Laboratory at UIC and found that when students are able to create their own connections in memory learning can be much more beneficial and persist for much longer. I am very easy-going and try to encourage others to find success in their own abilities and talents.
