MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
My name is Olivia and I'm a recent graduate from Northwestern University. I am from Manhattan but have been living in the Chicago area for almost 5 years.
Ever since I was a little girl, I've had a passion for teaching and for school. I used to line my stuffed animals up and teach them lessons on various books or history on my white board. Fifteen years later, I get to do the real thing.
My credentials:
I graduated in the top 5 of my high school class and took numerous AP classes as well as the SAT, ACT, and SATII. I recently took an intensive Princeton Review GRE class and will take the GRE this spring. Standardized tests aren't as scary as they look. It's all about pattern recognition and practice, practice, practice.
I graduated from Northwestern University in March 2012 with a dual degree in Political Science and International Studies.
I can help with writing college essays, essay structure for classes, and anything related to writing.
Currently I tutor ESL and English literature to children and young adults. I even tutor a Ph.D. student in South Korea over video chat to help her learn English.
I speak English, French, and have a knowledge of Chinese and Spanish. I am also currently learning Polish.
I derive my philosophy on teaching from my learning of languages. Learning is a step-by-step process that requires patience and repeat/repeat/repeat. No task or problem is insurmountable.
Subjects I can tutor: ACT, SAT, SATII. English literature, English language, History (European, US, World, etc), and French.
In my free time, I love to watch the Bulls, play tennis (and watch tennis--my favorite is Nadal), cooking (especially Italian), films (I try to go to the movies a few times per month), running by the lake, and spending time with my friends and family.
