One of the greatest pleasures in life is learning something so thoroughly that you can share your knowledge with others. Throughout my time in academia, I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to share my education, as well as my tips of reading and writing, with some lovely students, watching as they student gain control of a tricky concept.
I believe my ability to empathize with others coupled with my patience and indefatigable optimism makes me a great tutor. My students, who have ranged from twelve-year-olds struggling with Latin's nominative case to college students needing a better grasp on how to build an essay around an ethical dilemma, all have found my teaching style comforting while provocative. My greatest victory in tutoring occurred when my student won "most improved" in Latin at Houston's St. John's school, after six months once a week with me.
Not only am I a good listener but I act as a gadfly and provoke each student to discover their own distinct abilities within themselves. We then apply these abilities to their studies. I have worked with various levels of students, even some exchange students from Japan and South Korea, as they build their comfort with reading, writing and logical analysis of the English language.
I am confident that my interpersonal communication skills, creativity and experience will expand your child's abilities and academic goals.
