Hello! My name is James, and I want to help you or your student excel. The subjects I tutor are high-school level math and physics. I can also help with GRE preparation, if that's what you're looking for. Other than tutoring, my interests include hiking, reading, and following the Bulls.

My previous experience includes tutoring other students in courses I had previously taken while in college. Presently, I volunteer at a home for at-risk teens and help with interview skills, developing resumes, and filling out applications. Also, I substitute teach at a Catholic middle school in the West Suburbs.

When tutoring, I believe it's important to stress understanding the concepts that can lead to true subject mastery. Often, these are touched upon in the classroom, where there simply isn't enough time to digest the ideas fully. Once understood, these concepts can save hours of effort when completing assignments and approaching future concepts. It can help the student answer not only the questions they expect to be on exams, but also those questions they don't expect. I think it's important to use real-life examples and to engage the student's imagination when picturing mathematic and scientific concepts.
