MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
First and foremost, I am a native and loyal Houstonian. I started my Houston education at The Fay School at the age of 3. Yes, I still count "Three-a-day Three's" as part of my education. I went on to middle school at St. John's School and ended up graduating from Bellaire High School in the top 2% of my class. Now, I attend and LOVE The University of Houston Honors College. I am fortunate enough to have wonderful, brilliant professors that can give me so much personal attention. As a result, my college education is proving to be breathtakingly enjoyable and enlightening.

In high school, I tutored my fellow classmates and younger high schoolers on SAT and PSAT prep. For some reason, I am naturally gifted when it comes to standardized tests. For me, the trick is to envision the test as a game that you have to beat--a game with rules and subsequent rewards. While in college I helped my two younger sisters (who I love to death) study for the SAT and write their college essays. I honestly enjoy helping my sisters and other students progress academically. I could not wipe the smile off of my face when my youngest sister, a senior at St. Agnes Academy, showed me the A+ she received on her last English paper.

As an English and Political Science double-major, I love writing, literature, politics, history, economics, and anything painfully controversial. I love what I study because it is just simply a blast. I get to read complicated, dense material that I can discuss for days. I also get to write about this interesting material! For me, essays are an interesting dialogue with myself in which my laptop serves as the interlocutor. In addition, my fellow classmates approach me to edit their papers, and I always help them improve their writing. As a tutor, I try and make writing more fun and accessible. Writing can be taught, and it can also be a gateway for a student to better express himself or herself.

I know I sound like a nerd, but I am also friendly, compassionate, understanding, patient, and fun. Outside of college, I enjoy playing soccer, trying to cook, going to the movies, hugging my sisters, and watching the news. If my friends could describe me they would say that I am loyal, passionate, and goofy.
