I'm an undergraduate at University of California, San Diego majoring in mathematics. Since I was a young child, I loved math and it came easily for me. As I progressed in math in college, it stopped coming as easily for me. However, it got even more fascinating as it was more challenging and provided me with a better bigger picture understanding of math with each new bit of material I picked up. I hope that I can help the students I tutor see how awesome math really is.
My other passion is surfing. In the summer of 2007, I started teaching surf lessons through Offshore surf shop in Carlsbad. I love seeing people get as excited about surfing as I do. I continued teaching surf lessons through the summers of 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. I realized through teaching surf lessons that tutoring math would be just as gratifying because I love math and it would be awesome to get students as stoked about math as I am.
In the fall of 2010, I started tutoring math privately. It was very fun for me because it allowed me to brush up on my calculus and I got practice tutoring. It was exciting to see my students understand concepts in calculus that they were once struggling with and to see them get those aha moments math fanatics live for. Tutoring math is great practice for me as my overall career goal is to get my PhD in math so that I can do math research as well as spread my passion of math to students in college.
Aside from math, my hobbies include surfing, practicing yoga, listening to music, watching movies, and hanging out with my cats.
