MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
I was born and raised in south Atlanta, and moved to the West Cobb suburbs a decade ago this Christmas. I was a geek from day one - I grew my own salt crystals on a popsicle stick when I was five, joined the Science Olympiad when I was thirteen, and initially majored in biological engineering when I was seventeen. I'm now 24, and I received my baccalaureate degree in general biology with a minor in applied statistics and data analysis in December 2011. I'll graduate Kennesaw State's applied statistics masters program in May 2013.
During my time as an undergrad, I was a peer leader for both general and nursing chemistry courses, a supplemental instructor for both trigonometry-based physics and college algebra courses, and a tutor in the Kennesaw State Math Lab, which covers math courses from remedial math to calculus II, as well as basic statistics courses. I have also served as a private tutor to middle and high school students in all subjects. All of this is to say that I love math and science, and I do everything I can to pass that love on to other students. While my primary goal is to ensure that students succeed in their coursework, I also do my best to reassure them that struggling with material does not mean that they are a failure. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, and it is my hope that I can use my academic strengths to help your child in their area[s] of academic weakness.
In my free time, I practice Krav Maga, a form of hand-to-hand combat practiced by the Israeli Armed Forces. In the past, I have volunteered with Mostly Mutts pet rescue and MUST Ministries. I have spent my last three summers traveling, both for study abroad and for myself - thus far, I've been to China, France, Romania, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, and Morocco. I once spoke German fluently, and intend to regain fluency once the stress of university is over. In the future, I would like to skate for the Atlanta Rollergirls, the local women's roller derby team. Coffee is my lifeblood.
