MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am a graduate of the University of Chicago with a BA in American History, but specialize in tutoring subjects ranging from English and college essay writing to ACT test prep. I genuinely love to educate myself and others, and have successfully managed to apply this enthusiasm for learning and teaching to tutoring at the elementary, high school, and college levels. As a tutor, I prefer to address students for the unique people they are. This interpersonal approach allows me to assess and evaluate students’ academic strengths and weaknesses vis-à-vis their own personalities, interests, and most importantly, learning needs. I do not simply seek to impart or prepare, but rather to take advantage of the opportunity to form a substantive, intimate bond with individual students and help them to assimilate knowledge and concepts in meaningful ways that resonate with them personally.
