I have had many opportunities throughout my life that I have been able to take advantage of and get the most out of. Whether it is the variety of academic knowledge I have been taught, sports I have been coached in, or musical instruments and skills I have been inspired to learn, all of these things involved a teacher, a coach, or a friend. Because of this, I plan to devote a large part of myself to giving back and acting as the kind of role model I have been lucky to have in different forms through my child and adulthood.

Before I had even actualized this as my goal, for years I have known the joys of tutoring and working with a young child who looks to you for more than just the answers to his homework. Starting from when I was 12, I have been a tutor to many kids of all ages and learning abilities from grades four to sophomore year of college. My goal is to not only teach, but to inspire in all aspects and areas of growth. For this reason, I have worked with special needs children at a summer camp, I am currently head coach of a youth water polo team and a girl’s club volleyball team, and I am working to start a mentoring summer camp type organization abroad for underprivileged children in my year off before medical school.

Tutoring to me has become another one of the fortunate opportunities in my life--an opportunity I look forward to sharing with the child I teach.
