I live in Madison, New Jersey, and I work in a veterinary clinic in Secaucus, New Jersey. I tutored primarily during the four years I attended Davidson College, an elite four star, four year, private liberal arts college in Davidson, North Carolina, where some of my pupils were local high school students who sought help in French and French history.
My primary areas of expertise in tutoring are in French, Genetics, ACT, SAT, GRE, Spanish, German, and Dutch. I took Genetics at Columbia University, NYC, and I have lived for over four years in the countries where these languages are natively spoken.
I am well versed in tutoring for the SAT and ACT because I graduated high school with a GPA of over 4.0 and was ranked in the top ten of my class in Madison High School, which in turn was ranked in the top ten high schools in the state. My SAT scores are listed at the top of the page. I speak 5 languages English, French, Spanish, German, and Dutch. French is clearly the next subject that I have comparable experience and background in. I received a 5 on the French AP exam, a 790 out of 800 on the French SAT II subject test, and in 1998 I scored first in the Mid-Atlantic region and third in the nation in the national exam conducted by the American Association of Teachers of French. I was then invited to France for an all expense paid two week vacation where I attended two World Cup games and was one the guests of the President of France at the time, M. Jacques Chirac, at a garden party in the presidential palace in Paris. I also wrote a 32-page French thesis in the last course of my French Major at Davidson College, NC. which summarized the influence of French literary views over North African novelists, especially Tahar Ben Jelloun in the post-French-colonization era in the 1920's.
As for my expertise in Genetics, SAT, GRE, and Biology, I have a BS in Animal Science from the College of Biological and Environmental Science at Rutgers University, and I received a B in Genetics at Columbia University in the labs where the field of genetics was born with the study of Drosophila flies. My proficiency in tutoring in Biology is also exemplified by a 640 in the Biology SAT II Subject test. The two semesters during which I attended an American professional veterinary school in Oklahoma taught me a lot about stress in academia.
My success in Spanish stems from the translating that I perform between Hispanic clients and staff members at the veterinary clinics I work at. I then completed my Spanish studies when I traveled between cities in Chile, South America working in an animal humane hospital and eventually getting accepted into the national veterinary school in Valdivia, Chile, L'Universidad Austral de Chile. I also received the German National Heritage Award combined with a partial scholarship to college, which was awarded to only one high school senior a year.
