I was raised in a small town in Northeast Texas and moved to the Houston area to attend college. Since my undergraduate studies, I've served in the military as an Applied Math instructor at the Naval Nuclear Power School and eventually as a Database Developer in the school's Information Technology department. While in the military, I also pursued and attained a Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering.
During undergraduate experience, I was privileged with being a Professor's Aide and Tutor for math, science and engineering subjects areas. I believe that being able to effectively explain a certain concept to another person requires a great level of understanding of that concept. This philosophy followed into my teaching experience with the military and into my current career. I've been able to help students ranging from those who really struggled with a subject to those who understood more than they thought. Many people shy away from math and science, but with a background in engineering, I believe that I can present them in a manner that's simple and practical for all levels.
In my free time, I enjoy playing piano, riding motorcycles, playing basketball, hanging out with friends, watching TV, walking my dogs and trying to keep up with technology.
