MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
I have over 8 years of tutoring experience in Math, English, Social Studies, and Test Prep. I have also edited academic and personal writing, and I have significant experience assisting with college essays. I am all about making learning exciting and intuitive!
During Stanford, I served as a mentor and tutor two times a week at the East Palo Alto Boys and Girls Club, and spent many Saturday mornings at a local high school co-coaching the tri-math-a-lon team to two-time national victory. In high school, I worked with my principal to launch MenTu, a mentoring and tutoring program for local elementary school students. Through one on one attention we were able to strengthen the students' math and English homework scores, meanwhile building positive and reinforcing relationships that strengthened their confidence. Subsequently, I was invited to work as a tutor of all subjects at my magnet high school, where I continued to support students, reinforcing basics and providing extra enrichment as needed.
Having coached myself to excellence in the ACT, SAT, and GRE, I am available as an instructor for test taking strategy. I am also available as a college admissions counselor.
