I am a graduate of St. John's College, and as such, consider myself to be a lifetime learner. My time there granted me not only proficiency in a number of fields of study, but also a distinct and deep understanding of how to learn.

At St. John's, I studied in a Socratic environment that fostered learning through discussion. I have brought this approach to every other part of my life; I find that asking questions is the first and best step to understanding anything.
I believe that we are all capable of more than we think, and that any student, if encouraged to ask questions, can excel at any pursuit.

While my most natural strengths are in the fields of language and literature, I am also well-trained in maths such as Geometry, Algebra, and Trigonometry. I also think that these subjects are fun. This may make me seem strange to young people plodding through textbooks, but I submit that anything written in a textbook runs the threat of becoming boring. The fun comes from the pursuit of understanding, and from the moment when answers begin to come at a faster rate than questions. This only happens when questions are being asked, and I love it when questions are asked.

Aside from all this school talk, I am the father of an 18-month-old girl, who probably knows more than I do. I won't let her take a job yet, though, so you'll have to settle for me. I'm an avid reader and writer, I'm an ever-improving cook, and I listen to a lot of music. I do my best to pay attention to the world.
