Award Winning Academic Tutoring & Test Prep

I am a Masters student in Music at the University of Houston, and a new Houstonian as of 2011, just moving here from a small town (with two stoplights!) called Fairview, NC. As a composer and theory teacher, I'm well qualified to teach students in these areas, but because I have a broad liberal arts background and have done quite well with standardized testing, I also tutor students in SAT Preparation.

I'm a graduate of Furman University in Greenville, SC, recently rated the second most rigorous academic university in the nation. Being in a city like Houston is a big change, but I love all of the opportunities for experiencing the arts here.

Even though I love music, my passion is teaching. From my first days in college teaching my hall-mates about the joys of classical music while hanging out, I knew that I loved helping people understand what it was that I found so interesting in music and the rest of my pursuits. I want to be a college teacher, so being a tutor is a wonderful way to get to know students on a personal level.

In my spare time, I like to spend time cooking with my roommates and watching soccer (Viva Barcelona!) When I get the chance, I like to go to the Houston Symphony and the Houston Grand Opera, and I sing in the choir at the Church of St. John the Divine.
