Award Winning Academic Tutoring & Test Prep

Recently I finished my Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology at UT Arlington. I am currently employed as an Athletic Trainer at a busy orthopedic office and perform additional outreach covering various youth sporting events across the DFW area. Despite having a full-time job, about a month after graduation I realized that there was something missing in my day and that was school. While I do not have plans to return to school as a student immediately, I began to look into other venues where I could be involved in academics and help others succeed. The solution I found was to look into tutoring other students and that is how I found Varsity Tutors.

My love of learning and education was instilled at a young age because both of my parents are teachers, my dad teaches Geology and my mom teaches 3rd grade. Education has always been a priority for me, and I love making ordinary, everyday events into creative learning opportunities. My educational background lies mostly within the sciences and emphasized Chemistry and Biology. I also enjoyed and took additional math classes, specifically statistics. I have also recently been tutoring a co-workers daughter prepare for the ACT.

From personal experience I know the value of a great tutor; I would have been lost in Organic Chemistry without my tutor. My goal as a tutor is to pass on the love of learning that I have to the students that I teach. It is my job as a tutor to help the study not just complete an assignment or pass a test but to develop the skills to truly understand the subject. I also understand that every student is unique and have different learning styles and it is my job as a tutor to recognize that and to customize each session towards each individual learning style. I try to make every session fun and educational by incorporating games, outside materials, and even experiments as the subject allows.

In my free time, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family and friends. Some of my favorite local activities are watching the Dallas Stars play at the AAC, trying many of the different restaurants that Dallas has to offer, visiting the museums, or just sitting reading a good book at home with my dogs.
