First, let me introduce myself. My name is Maddy, a recent Cornell University graduate (magna cum laude) with a Biology & Society degree. I am currently researching in the Pediatrics and Immunology department of the Mount Sinai Hospital. First of all, due to the nature of this job, my hours are very flexible so your son/daughter will get the utmost attention from me during the week/weekend. I have a firm grasp on all subjects regarding Mathematics up to college level Calculus 2. As far as English is concerned, since my degree is both a science and humanities degree, I have mastered how to write persuasively, informatively, and creatively. Critical thinking skills and good reading comprehension, I believe, is crucial to succeeding in any English class or pass any sort of exam in English as well. These skills have been grossly ingrained within me, because of all of my humanities courses including but not limited to persuasive anthropology classes, writing seminars and the like. What you will find in me that you won't find in any other tutor is that I know how to take tests. I spent the last four years doing just that and getting excellent at knowing/studying for what the exam demand. Part of the reason some students score low even though they know the material is that they get flustered during the exam or are just poor test takers. I believe that with the right skill set, this is a problem that can be easily solved and I am willing and able to help. Finally, my teaching experience is tremendous as I started tutoring when I was in high school in a variety of subjects. I taught a Basic Computers class at the local senior citizen center. This continued throughout college as I tutored local high school children as well in all subjects including Biology, English, Algebra, Geometry etc. I am well versed in what I teach, and have a tremendous amount of patience. I am looking forward to continuing with my teaching experience as a Varsity Tutor.
