MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am a recent graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. I am capable of tutoring in chemistry, biochemistry, physics and higher level mathematics at both the high school and collegiate levels.
While I have tutored both high school and undergraduate college students for the past four years as a student at ASU, most of my experience has involved teaching my fellow classmates. For a good majority of my college career, I would tutor and teach students in the variety of physical science courses that we were currently taking together at the time. I truly enjoyed doing this because not only did it strengthen and reinforce their knowledge of the material, it also reinforced my own. Towards the end of my career at ASU, I began to tutor younger students taking these courses. While this is my first time tutoring for a company, students that have worked with me have always been very successful. I have continually been recommended as a tutor by both former students and current professors at ASU in these subjects.
I am no stranger to the world of teaching and education. I come from a family of educators and both my parents teach in the Scottsdale Unified School District. As a result, I understand the importance of the student-teacher relationship and how that relationship can strongly affect the student’s success. I am well aware of how stressful and nerve-racking it is to be confused by academic material. Teaching is a passion for me and nothing makes me happier than to see a student struggling with “scary” subjects become more confident in his/her abilities. My philosophy is simple: everyone can understand the material; it is the way in which that material is presented that matters. I am very dedicated to finding that individual solution for each client.
Outside of studying and working, I love to be active in any way that I can, especially outdoors. I love watching and playing sports, especially basketball, football and wrestling. I am an avid music lover and enjoy attending concerts in almost every music genre. I also enjoy reading, cooking and spending time with my family and friends.
