My name is Tom, and I recently completed an MA in English at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I previously earned by BA, also in English, from DePauw University in Indiana.

With a range of experience as both a classroom teacher and personal tutor, I can effectively tailor my tutoring style to meet any student’s individual needs. I have taught English at both the high school and college levels—at De Smet Jesuit High School here in St. Louis and at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Thus, my tutoring benefits from inside knowledge of teachers’ and professors’ expectations.

I have also worked as a one-on-one writing tutor at DePauw University and the University of Missouri-Columbia. Because writing is a fundamental skill that essential to success in all fields, I have tutored student papers in nearly every academic discipline imaginable. I have helped students with assignments from all levels of the university, from basic introductory-level composition essays to chapters of doctoral dissertations. I have experience tutoring both native speakers of English and students who speak English as a second language.

I am also available to help college admissions essays and test preparation, including the ACT, SAT, GRE, and GRE Literature Subject Test.
