MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am a Wash U grad working in clinical research at the School of Medicine. Although my undergraduate studies were in Anthropology and International Studies, doing fieldwork for my thesis on the cultural barriers to reducing disease transmission in rural India is what really got me into medicine and allowed me to have one of my first full-time teaching experiences tutoring village students in English. I loved teaching and working with students and think learning should always be engaging and fun. Going to a university like Wash U with an emphasis on liberal arts coursework taught me the importance of a well-rounded education so although I love research and hope to pursue my graduate studies in epidemiology someday; I am also passionate about the arts, music, and literature as well. While test scores are important, helping students discover the excitement of academic passion and intellectual curiosity is one of the greatest gifts you can give!
