I've been living in KCMO for the past 6 years, though I'm from Wisconsin and graduated from the UW-Stevens Point in 2006 with a B.S. in General Resource Management. I have a solid background in the physical/life sciences, environmental and social sciences, and command of the English language from grammar to composition.

I've tutored K-8th grade students in a variety of subjects, and was well respected and sought out by students struggling with math, science, reading, and English problems. I most recently spent a year in China from 2009-2010 teaching English to students of all ages, from kindergarten to adults. This experience really gave me the opportunity to develop my skills in communicating effectively, simply, and in a natural way to stimulate students to learn new concepts easily.

I've found that there's no better way to ensure that I'm fostering an exciting, engaging and effective tutoring session than to put myself in a foreign classroom and see how I'm received and perceived by students there. I sharpened my skills and developed new techniques that I look forward to using here in KC. Helping students understand the core concepts and highlighting the relationship between those and novel ideas are at the heart of my teaching, and I utilize many tools to assist my students while I confirm that they truly understand the subject matter.

Outside of tutoring/teaching opportunities, I'm a custom woodworker, a long-distance runner, cyclist, and I enjoy baking, photography, hiking, reading, writing, and traveling to Asia.
