I am JD/MPH student from Houston, Texas!
I have been a tutor for several years now beginning from when I was a high school student. I tutored elementary, middle school, and high school students in the Houston suburban area as well as in the Atlanta Metropolitan area.
The subjects I teach include reading, writing, and elementary/middle school math. I can also tutor ACT test prep strategies. I have taught English speaking and writing to elementary, middle school, and high school students in South Korea for one summer. It was such a rewarding experience!
I think being a great tutor includes being exposed to different types of cultures, being patient, understanding, and passionate about what you're doing. These are all qualities that I possess. I believe that tutoring goes beyond making sure a student "gets the right answer"-- tutoring is ensuring that students UNDERSTAND the methodology behind that "right answer" so that they can apply those techniques to their work in the future.
I feel a great sense of reward when I tutor a student because I feel that I am making a change in their lives by adding to a strong foundation that they will use throughout their education.
