Hello! My name is Kateland. I am currently a Kindergarten teacher in the Madison School District in Phoenix, and want to dedicate a few hours each week to helping students after-school and/or on the weekends. Through the tutoring process, I aim to help students create and acquire their own knowledge, feel excited and motivated about learning, and wish to help students learn techniques and strategies which will benefit them for the rest of their educational career.

Each one of us learns differently: some of us are visual learners, some of us prefer to learn through our auditory channel, and some of us need kinesthetic and hands-on experiences in order to concretize learning. My goal is to help each student recognize his/her strengths and individual learning style, in order to make learning accessible and feasible.

Learning can be fun, and should be fun! I attempt new lessons and new projects in my classroom on a daily basis. I am consistently looking for new games, ideas, or lessons which will engage and appeal to my group’s interests and needs. I aim to make tutoring very much the same way: engaging, memorable, and fun.

I hope that in the few hours I meet with you after-school or on the weekend that I can help you transform your education so it holds meaning and value for you. We all deserve to feel good about our acquired knowledge, and I hope to be lucky enough to be the person who can help you feel that way!

I have experience teaching Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade. I have also tutored middle school and high-school students, and have nannied/ as well as worked with students who have special needs.
