MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
My name is Pete; I'm a fourth year student at WashU. I've been studying Latin for 8 years and am working towards a degree in Classics and African Studies. The grammar is what attracted me to the language in the first place: each sentence unfolds as a kind of logic puzzle. My interest in linguistics extends into my studies of contemporary Africa and my coursework in Kiswahili.
Writing, whether creatively or analytically, gives me an acceptable space to be a grammar/vocabulary perfectionist, and I am available for writing counseling.
I am particularly well-versed in proofreading and grammar mechanics as well as stylistics and prosody.
I am also available for SAT prep, especially the Writing and Critical Reading sections of the test.
Outside of school I enjoy hiking, reading, watching movies, and finding new music.
