MY PERSONAL STATEMENT

My prior tutoring experiences consist of working for Varsity Tutors teaching high school and college students in the North Shore of Chicago, as well as working directly for Northwestern University tutoring student athletes, during the 2009-10 academic year. In my previous tutoring jobs, I have had extensive experience teaching the subjects of physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, statistics and economics. I graduated from Northwestern University in 2010 with majors in Integrated Sciences, Mathematics, Biological Sciences and Economics. I believe one of my greatest assets as a tutor is my breadth of knowledge and my command of the material, particularly the fundamental concepts and how to apply them to the challenging problems one would come across in high school- and college-level math, science and social science courses. I have always enjoyed helping others learn, and my experiences with a broad array of students has taught me that it is important to work within each student’s goals and learning curve. I also think studying various disciplines have emphasized to me the importance of looking at problems from different angles, and that helps me as a tutor communicate the material via the most effective approach. I have a great passion for math and science, and I have found tutoring students in these subjects to be incredibly rewarding.
