MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
My name is Cyre, and I'm a former graduate student in Chemistry, now teaching high school math in Houston. I have been in Houston for most of my life, attending St. Agnes Academy here in town and getting my bachelor's in Chemistry and Spanish at the University of Houston. During my graduate studies, I loved working as a chemistry TA at Rice and made the move to become an educator soon after.
I have experience in tutoring all ages and backgrounds, so I’m not afraid to try new ways of explaining things. Pulling together things from different subjects to illustrate a topic is only half the fun. What I hear most often from my students is “I didn’t know that had anything to do with this subject!” That being said, my background in both liberal arts and sciences have allowed me to tutor from 6th grade math up to university calculus, physics and chemistry, as well as Spanish, writing, test prep, and my personal favorite - algebra entirely taught in Spanish.
When I’m away from the books, I am taking dance classes, baking, trying to take photographs, and, well, reading other books! My favorite authors are Ayn Rand and Margaret Atwood. I also hope to complete a half marathon by the end of this year!
