Tutoring review by Joe in Woodridge, IL
We covered high level topics for the student's 7th grade math class. We will continue to work together on areas and circumferences of circles, geometry rules, and slope-intercept form as the semester progresses. He will bring his homework assignments and math textbook to future sessions, so we can continue to devise a study strategy to help him succeed.

Tutoring review by Kevin in Woodridge, IL
We reviewed a lot of concepts on the AP exam for his practice final tomorrow - specifically focusing on shapes, distributions, z scores, t scores, and various tests / when to use them. The student picked up the material pretty fast and I think has a much better understanding of how it works.

Tutoring review by Scott in Woodridge, IL
During this session we worked on practice test problems, and I found a test review for the state exam that did not contain multiple choice. The student would focus on the strategy of how to solve a problem instead of making a guess. The student had a good attitude. We used strategies for finding volume, area, perimeter, and making fractions equivalent. On the practice test he only missed a few problems out of the 30 questions we worked on. The student made progress with making equivalent fractions, we he struggled with earlier in the week. This session multiplying was problematic for the student, such as multiplying with three digit numbers. I would say that this student has improved since I began tutoring them, but attention span and ability without scaffolding and assistance can be an issue.

Tutoring review by Jennifer in Woodridge, IL
This may have been our best session yet!! Not only did the student complete two pages of her workbook, but she wrote a song about mathematics! She practiced fractions and decimals today and converting between them and writing simplest fractions. While doing so, she scripted a song about fractions and decimals. Her enthusiasm warmed my heart! She was upbeat and positive (as always) and I think even enjoyed herself.

Tutoring review by Julia in Woodridge, IL
The student and I began our lesson with a new set of warm-up questions, this time revisiting when to use your vs. you're, and when to use later vs. latter. She had no trouble with these exercises, even when the sentences had several your/you're options within the content. Afterwards, we reviewed a translation of a fairytale she had translated called The Frogs and the Stork. The translation was done very well, and it presented an opportunity to go over the difference, and when to use to vs. from. This lesson went very well, and we planned to go over irregular verbs next lesson, after a warm-up revisiting when to use to/from.

Tutoring review by Joseph in Woodridge, IL
The student focused on reading during his session today. He read a fiction story with very few errors, and did a good job of correcting himself when he made those errors. After the reading, we started working on a journal entry that he is going to make using the reading that supports using text based evidence and critical thinking skills. We will continue working on the entry and do additional reading tomorrow. After working on the journal for a little while, we reviewed some high frequency sight words that he has been working on learning. He has done a great job of learning the dozen words in this set, and can recite them with a much higher accuracy than when we started the words last week.
