Tutoring review by Christopher in Ossining, NY
The student and I went over his homework on adding and subtracting integers, then practiced some problems with algebraic equations that have variables on both sides of the equation. I then introduced the concept of rewriting equations and formulas with multiple variables. We then did some practice problems on that concept. He got 100% on a recent quiz on material we've been covering, which was great. He is a great student to work with.

The student and I met to work on his math work today. He reported that he was working on 6.2 and that he did not do well on his previous test. He reported that he blanked out during the test resulting in a 10/30. He and I practiced 6.2 extensively since another portion of it was due for homework and would probably show up on the test. We also reviewed 6.1 since he mentioned that would probably show up on the test as well.

The student and I continued to prepare for her algebra exam. We spent some extra time focusing on the slope-intercept formula and different applications of it. We've been trying to delve deeper into singular topics in the hopes that it will create a longer lasting knowledge and familiarity with topics that appear most often on the exam. I asked her to complete 8 additional questions on her own before next week.

We went over some 30 problems from the student's textbook on trigonometric identities. He seemed to understand the concepts better as we went along, although he sometimes still has some trouble going through the whole simplifying process.

Tutoring review by Abby in Ossining, NY
Today we reviewed adjectives and brainstormed lists. Then we learned about nouns, and brainstormed lists of people, places, and things. We also explored what makes a proper noun. Then the student read from his Narnia book. Today's challenge was to read as if you were a storyteller on stage trying to entertain an audience of listeners. This was to encourage him to read with expression and to take his time. He needs more practice at this, but he seemed to understand the idea.
