Every student faces assessment tests during their academic career. Here's how the schools in Irving are preparing students for state assessment exams:

Irving Test Scores

The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) program provides schools with a way to track how well their students are learning. Exams are given annually from grades 3-8 in reading, writing, social studies, science, and math. In high school, students take end-of-course tests upon completion of classes such as English, physics, US or world history, and geometry, among others. There are accomplished tutors in Irving who help students do their best on these standardized exams, and on those like the SAT, ACT, PSAT, LSAT, and others. Test prep tutors cover the format and timing of exams in addition to drilling on test material, helping students work through test anxiety and feel prepared on test day.

Besides test prep, Irving tutors can provide your child with the kind of caring, one-on-one attention they may need to learn any academic subject. Local tutors get to know details like your student’s strengths and weaknesses, interests, and goals, which allows them to provide effective individualized study sessions. Combined with the ability to work at your child’s pace, this makes tutors an excellent supplement to classroom education.

Tutoring review by Kyla in Irving, TX
We worked through the chapter that she has a test for on Wednesday. We focused on mitosis and meiosis in detail. And I recommended that she write out the order of the mitosis and meiosis on the exam so that she has a reference to look at when answering multiple choice questions.

Tutoring review by Matthew in Irving, TX
Looked at the introduction she prepared for her King Lear essay and then collected further ideas for where the essay is going. Wrote ideas down for contemplation of narrative threads within the ideas she had. Spent time working through techniques and styles that have given her issues and how to think about high school expectations in a more positive fashion; a journey instead of a cause and effect relationship between assignments and learning. Her homework is to write the next section of her Lear essay and decide on a narrative thread to pick up.

Tutoring review by Swati in Irving, TX
I continued to cover the questions and material to help prepare the student for this exam.  Most of the time he requires a review of arithmetic and basic math concepts in order to do the statistics problems.  Since the student does not have any notes for his material, I asked him to bring his laptop to our next session so that I can pull up material to explain the information to him.

Tutoring review by Annie in Irving, TX
We began studying for her history final by using the study guide.  We went through each definition/concept and found them in the book.  The student explained the concept to me or we researched it together.  It was a lot of material and I felt she did a great job.

Tutoring review by Amy in Irving, TX
The student has a test tomorrow on ratio & proportion & similar figures.  We went over the last couple of homework assignments as well as her questions on the assigned review problems.  She was especially confused at first by proofs utilizing "corresponding parts of similar triangles" conclusions, but seemed to gain confidence with all of the material as the session progressed.

Tutoring review by Rani in Irving, TX
This was my first session with the student.  We went over his upcoming assignments and tests and talked about what he needed to get finished this week.  I suggested some strategies for studying for tests such as outlining and diagramming. I also suggested that he start writing things down as he reads them to help with retention.  We briefly talked about DNA and RNA, and our next session is scheduled for Tuesday so I can help him prepare for his Wednesday biology test.
