Dixon Tutoring FAQ

Dixon, CA, is a city located 23 miles west of Sacramento. The town has a population of about 18,400. Dixon residents broke the world record for the largest, temporary corn/crop maze by creating a maze over 60 acres large.

Dixon High School serves the city as a member of the Dixon Unified School District. There is a lot of competition within the school district, due to the high density of students within the Sacramento area. Professional in-person or online tutoring in Dixon is a great way to try to get ahead in your class or test prep. It can be difficult to get into top ranked colleges such as the University of California Davis. The school ranked 41st in the nation's top schools. Are you looking for private instruction to help you get into your top college? Online or in-home test prep tutoring in Dixon, CA, is available to help you work towards your goals. To have a chance at well ranked colleges, further your education through private instruction. Tutors in Dixon look forward to tutoring you for your course or test prep, either in-home or online.

With Sacramento so nearby, there is a lot to do in the area. However, you won't have to travel too far from Dixon to find attractions. Cool Patch Pumpkins is the perfect option for fall fun. The seasonal attraction holds multiple world records for the largest corn/crop maze in America. The maze size varies each year, but you can be assured it will be one of the largest you have ever gotten lost in. The farm has everything you could want for some fall fun, including tractor pulled hay rides, scarecrow contests, and Corn Bath quicksand pits. You'll even be able to see the historic site, the Milk Farm Sign. Originally part of a restaurant which operated in the 1920s, the whimsical sign has become a local attraction.

For more outdoors fun, visit the Jepson Prairie Reserve. The reserve is an island with one of the last remaining vernal-pool habitats, a local ecosystem, which is only found in the western United States and a limited number of locations around the world. The reserve serves as a protector for several local species that have had a severe drop in their population. These species include delta green ground beetle, Solano grass, and native bunchgrass. Walk along the trails of the island to learn about the native species and gain an appreciation of the area's fading plant life.

Exploring the local flora and fauna can be exciting, but you'll want to stay on top of your studies as well. A Dixon, CA, tutor might help you realize success in all of your academic endeavors.

Today I was lucky to tutor both Student 1 and his brother, Student 2. Student 1 and I were able to discuss volume concepts and we touched upon a variety of graphics skills, ranging from basic circle graph interpretation to bar chart reading. Student 2 and I decided to go over a math packet together. This packet covered subjects ranging from basic coordinate geometry to inequality algebra. Both students performed quite well. I hope both students can maintain the enthusiasm I saw today!

We went over the material that was covered in class this past week. This includes quadratic function graph transformations, finding vertices as well as application to word problems. He then worked on his homework assignment and got started on the assignment due the day after. The student was engaged and receptive to learning during the session and seems to understand the material rather well.

Tutoring review by Winnie in Dixon, CA
The student and I went over energy transfer and types of energy (heat, light, etc.) today. We walked through the sections and I quizzed him on the concepts. He seems to understand things well, but has a hard time explaining his understanding. When we finished with his science reading, he worked on his math homework. After looking through his last test, it was clear that he made simple mistakes where he got questions wrong, which means he knows the material, but needs to be more careful. He had no trouble with his homework and we tested his thinking skills with challenge questions. He worked through the challenge questions well and needed little help with them, though once again, he needed to show his work and explain his thought process. Overall, he seemed excited about the material and put in a great effort. I look forward to seeing him again next Wednesday!

Tutoring review by Josiah in Dixon, CA
We covered homework due for class. We also discussed proportionality and rate concepts. The students did a very good job with proportionality and rate discussion. I was very impressed by their input! They are both much more comfortable with fractions still. I would like to see their problem-solving skills improve--but that is above and beyond their required abilities for the class. Any progress they make in problem-solving is simply beneficial to them, not for course requirements.

Tutoring review by Hartini in Dixon, CA
We went over each subject on the test in preparation for Saturday. The student did really well and has a solid foundation for each subject. He needs to remember to check his work and be confident. In doing these things, he will do well on the test.
