Tutoring review by Stephanie in Winter Springs, FL
The student and I first worked on studying for her biology test next week. We went through the review that her teacher have to her and worked through the questions she was not able to get. We then did geometry practice because she has a quiz tomorrow. She did well on these and has a good grasp of the topics that will be covered.

Tutoring review by Andrew in Winter Springs, FL
I covered multiplying and dividing integers, least common multiple comparing fractions, and then adding and subtracting fractions, exponents, fractions to decimals and percents, simplifying variable expressions by combining like terms, and also distribution and combining like terms. The student struggled most with finding the least common multiple for two fractions' denominators. When I broke the question down into parts, she seemed to get it a bit more. I employed the strategy of highlighting like terms for the combining like terms worksheet, such as 4a+5a+2b+3b. I would have her highlight the "a" terms, and then the "b" terms with two different colors. This seemed to help get the point across. To find the least common multiple between two numbers, I showed the student that no matter what one can always multiply the two numbers in question together, respectively, to find a common multiple, although it may need to be reduced. I left the student with quite a few worksheets (all of the worksheets on the aforementioned topics), as we were only able to get about half of each done in time. I felt the highlighting of like terms, with different respective colors, was a big win in this session, because it got the concept across to the student that one cannot add a's with b's, for example, and I tried to give a metaphor that apples cannot be added with oranges. The student still shows improvement.

We went through his exam review. We covered more than half of the packet. I explained the concepts and asked him to solve the questions to make sure he understood how he has to solve them. He understood them and he needs to practice on some of them. He is doing well.

Tutoring review by Sona in Winter Springs, FL
The student is growing stronger with his writing skills. The new school he is in finally offers him some challenges and is a good match for him academically. Additionally, we worked on alphabetizing. He's very smart, however he just needs to work on slowing down with his work.
