Tutoring review by Joe in Salt Lake City International Airport, UT
We covered a short budgeting assignment regarding compensation for land use for the student's budgeting class as well as a set of statistics practice problems pertaining to sampling, z-scores, and normal distribution. While many of the students in her class are struggling to understand the material, she is highly motivated and made progress towards grasping some of the more challenging concepts of z-scores and the mathematical formulas associated with them. We will continue to review her practice problems as the semester progresses.

Tutoring review by Michelle in Salt Lake City International Airport, UT
The student needed to review for Chap 9, her last Math chapter this year. She asked for help on specific problems of the review sheet, including: definitions for prime & composite, rational & irrational numbers, no-repeating decimals, repeating decimals--how to categorize numbers into one or more of those categories; recognizing alternating interior & exterior, corresponding angles in parallel lines & transversal situations; and setting up equations when solving for missing sides or angles in triangles. She also had negative numbers with exponents to simplify. She worked on a writing project. We proofread her rough draft, reviewed some phonics related to that, and I gave her a 6th grade year core knowledge book to peruse for a few weeks.

The concepts covered in this session were the use of adjectives with nouns. The student was enthused and enjoyed the lesson. He was also made to spell and read using adjectives in Spanish. Pictures were used to give the meaning of words. Extra practice was left for student to complete. I see great progress in student.

Tutoring review by Valerie in Salt Lake City International Airport, UT
For our session today, we worked on some new concepts introduced or expanded on from the student's school work. We expanded our learning on imaginary and complex numbers. We had touched on this subject in prior weeks briefly. In addition, we talked about polynomials and how, depending on the degree of the polynomial, the graph will look different in its ending behavior. The student did a great job with her calculations. I encouraged her to slow down just a bit to make sure that when she is dealing with negatives, she double-checks er work. She scored in the top three in her class for her exam she took last week. It was a challenging exam, so I was am proud of her.

The student worked on homework that related to law of sine and cosine usage. She remembered most everything from her class and needed very little help by way of application. She seems to have mastered these concepts.

Tutoring review by Joseph in Salt Lake City International Airport, UT
I prepared the student for her exam on congruent triangles by reviewed proofs and fill in the blank type questions provided by her geometry teacher. She understands the triangle congruence theorems (SSS, SAS, AAS, ASA) as well as congruent parts of congruent triangles are congruent (CPCTC). She initially had a question on the hypotenuse leg theorem for right triangle, but after providing her with an example she quickly mastered application of this theorem. She is well prepared for her exam and I recommended that she review her notes this evening to refresh her knowledge.
