Tutoring review by Caroline in Sahuarita, AZ
The student and I continued working on factoring trinomials and polynomials. Today we focused on factoring special cases. I can see progress from last week because she was able to walk her way through some of the problems on her own. I left her with a few worksheets and told her to do at least one problem each day. She has not fully mastered the topic yet, but I feel with a little more practice it'll be a piece of cake for her. I tried to use real life sayings/examples in order for her to really understand how to work around each problem.

Tutoring review by Tina in Sahuarita, AZ
We moved on to critical reading this time. We went over problems the student missed on a practice test I sent her, before moving on to passage-based problems. We worked through several of those and talked about how she might be able to keep her interest by knowing exactly what to look for before she starts reading the passage (by reading questions and choices first). We also worked through vocab questions, and she is pretty great at those.

Tutoring review by Maggie in Sahuarita, AZ
Today we worked on some homework problems involving complex numbers, and how to use conjugates to simplify quotients and write in standard form. She struggled in the beginning but with all the practice, became comfortable with it. This chapter has been easier for her to understand, so she is doing well.

Tutoring review by Colin in Sahuarita, AZ
In this session, we spent the majority of the time reviewing the topics in a few of the remaining sections from the final unit. Since the student is pretty comfortable with the topics, we felt it was more beneficial to review the topics in our session rather than work through the self checks. We did work through a few problems in the last section though.

Tutoring review by Amber in Sahuarita, AZ
Today we kept working on the student's math review packet. I showed him how to find and what the difference is between rational, real, and all zeros of a function. We talked about a synthetic division process of elimination to work out the answers to these questions. He now understands how to rewrite the new polynomial he gets from synthetic division.
