It was a good session with the student. We worked the entire time on solving trigonometric equations - using various tools, depending on the situation.

The student and I focused on logarithms. He expressed questions over the concept, so we began by reviewing the connection between logarithms and exponential expressions. Following a few examples, we reviewed the properties and laws of logarithms, and, using his homework assignments, we applied these concepts. Additionally, we looked into how to calculate logarithms using a calculator. He expressed greater understanding of the material, though I would suggest more practice in using the laws of logarithms.

Tutoring review by Jonathan in Riverside, FL
We covered interpreting distance vs. time graphs, calculating the slope of the each line segment, and finding the average speed of the total graph. I left the student with two chapter tests from the 7th grade math textbook. It is material that we have covered in the past, including shapes that I know will help him prepare for the end of the year.

Tutoring review by Rochelle in Riverside, FL
We focused on continued practice with basic multiplication facts (7x and 8x). The student consistently is improving in both speed and accuracy. We spent a majority of the session revisiting place value with decimals, using practice materials from the teacher. We printed a place value chart and observed patterns. We then took turns writing numbers, reading them aloud in extended word form for the other to write, and then compared answers. The student demonstrated comprehension of skill in both speaking and writing.

The student had a quiz on molar masses and conversions, and it appears his teacher may allow him to retake it. We went over how to find molar masses from chemical equations, how to convert from mass to moles and vice versa and moles and molecules and vice versa. We also reviewed Lewis dot structures and the rules for drawing them correctly. We went over all the steps to do so and worked on a number of examples. I gave him extra practice assignments to do from his textbook, and I will send him an extra problem set on molar conversions to help him prepare for his quiz. He was engaged during the session.
