Tutoring review by Richard in Minneola, FL
In today's session, the student began by completing an ISEE Lower Level Verbal Diagnostic Test #10. She worked quickly, with few prompts. We discussed and reviewed her incorrect answers, noting that even with her strong vocabulary she still has difficulty with synonyms. We will continue to work on those. She then began a series of flashcards related to synonym identification. She asked for prompting with only about 3 or 4 words and moved quickly through each. In an effort to support her skill-building and effectiveness in writing, I introduced an exercise on paraphrasing that utilized an article on Civil Rights icon, Rosa Parks. The criteria for paraphrasing included identifying the main idea, changing words and word order, changing the structure of the paragraph, and writing about it in a different way.

Tutoring review by Gabriel in Minneola, FL
Today was the first session with this student, and it went rather well. We covered all aspects of photosynthesis. I came prepared with a rather large set of notes of my own so that we could get right to work. I used a few videos that do a really good job at explaining all of the chemical reactions involved with this complex system. I concluded by doing a quick review of the material and going over an action plan to assist him in preparation for his next exam. The key will be to take the information in small sections and not try to cram it all in. He has plenty of time to prepare and I feel confident in his abilities as long as he stays on course. I will have a small practice quiz for the next session on Monday evening.

Tutoring review by Lindsay in Minneola, FL
The student wanted to redraft an assignment on telling a personal story about an artifact in his home. He had originally drafted a story about a photo album but expressed that he did not like it and wanted to start over. We picked a different artifact, his stuffed giraffe toy, and how he got the toy. We didn't developed a complete outline and began work on the first three paragraphs.
