The student and I focused on negations for the passe compose and pronoun usage and placement. She has a good grasp on the material. She has asked that we spend the next several weeks reviewing concepts for the final.

The student and I went over improper integrals covering infinite intervals and discontinuous integrals. We tackled example problems that targeted all the different variations of said topics. We agreed to take on implicit differentiation and trigonometric integration next week. In addition, over the next couple of weeks, we will be working on past AP Calc tests and practice questions to prepare for the test in May.

During today's session I supervised the student's completion of some of his homework assignments. We started reviewing his language arts workbook. The questions were focused on character, plot, and point of view. We then continued with social studies. The student had to complete writing an outline on ancient Greece. This will be used to help him study for his test on Thursday. Included in his assignment were important vocabulary terms. I told the student to study them on his own, and I will go over them with him on Wednesday.

I worked with Student T on his first French assignment for the year. Our focus will be much more on French than English this year. He shows great enthusiasm for expanding and using new vocabulary so I am quite encouraged. I worked with Student A on refining the topic for his history paper. I also advised him to read two books, one of which he will be ordering on Amazon (it's a book by Dominic Lieven on Tsar Nicolas II) and the other he should already possess (A Mad Catastrophe by Geoffrey Wawro).

Tutoring review by Damon in Derby, NY
The student and I spent most of our session on Friday working on math. To break up the monotony of focusing on math facts and division, I decided that our focus would be on logical reasoning. We did three types of problems: Guess the number, i.e. "I have a one in the ones place. I am greater than 77 but less than 91;" Lowest/Greatest number possible, i.e. "What is the highest number you can make with the following digits?;" and Find the Order problems, i.e. "Jenny swims slower than Nellie but faster than Wendell. Who swims faster, Nellie or Wendell?" While the first two sets weren't very difficult for him, once he found a rhythm, the find the order problems proved to be appropriately challenging. It was nice to see him utilize his problem solving skills and take the time to solve problems that weren't easy for him.

Tutoring review by Ram in Derby, NY
Today, we covered percentages and shapes. Aside from that, we reviewed the material that was on their most recent quiz in preparation of a future test. The girls both got A+'s on the quiz and demonstrated today that it wasn't a fluke. We worked on harder problems that, from time to time, stumped them. But for the most part, they knew the material. Both girls struggled a bit when the multiplication/division numbers grew large in size (i.e. 254 divided by 11). The girls behaved very well today throughout the session.
