Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has a science test tomorrow, so we spent the whole session discussing concepts and memorizing terms in preparation. By the end of the session, he was able to correctly identify all of the terms on his study guide and had no more questions about content. I also learned that he got 100% on his stanza memorization, which we worked on last time."
"Student 1 asked me if I could help him with some math (ratios, proportions, unit rates). He is having a test on Thursday. Student 2 and I analyzed and discussed the poem, "The Road Not Taken"."
"We went through the student's completed social studies essay rough draft and edited it. We also worked on multiplying mixed numbers, semicolons, hyphens, and colons. She has been told to double check with her teacher about the social studies assignment to make sure she has done everything correctly."
"Today was the first session evaluation of the student's reading level, word recognition, and math skills."
"For this session, we reviewed counting by 2's, adding doubles, and addition of single digits to equal 10. The student did a great job counting by 2's up to 30! He also seems to be getting the hang of his doubles. He was able to write the fact families for single digits that add up to 10. He did a great job with this! We also played the memory game with addition and we played a reading game. He is showing good progress!"
"Today I mainly assessed where the student is at in reading and in math. We worked with sight word flashcards. We reviewed consonants and vowels and I introduced the consonant-vowel-consonant-silent e pattern. To get a feel for what he knows in math, I had him skip count by 2s, 5s, and 10s and backwards by 2s. We also practiced some simple 1 digit addition out of a work book and talked about place values. Finally we read one of the Star Wars readers. As for practice, I left a list of ten sight words that we had worked on."
