"We covered amino acids, polypeptides, and proteins. This was a new topic and we covered a lot of ground. The student mastered the ionization of amino acids, acid/base reactions, formation and naming of polypeptides, and primary, secondary, and tertiary structures of proteins. "
"The student and I reviewed for his test tomorrow. It was more stuff about functions- primarily the properties that coincide with the roots of a function, real and irrational. He understands all the topics and just needs to take his time on his test tomorrow."
"We went over Consumer & Producer surplus, gains from exchange and dead weight loss concerning price floors and price ceilings. We reviewed his homework on these topics and also covered the impact of an excise tax, a topic they hadn't yet covered in class."
"The student and I had discussed the last time we met about how logic plays a large role in the ACT math section and science section. This time, I had him work through a logic problem to show how little details are in tiny words like "The one with the blue ball and John did not pay $45" meaning that neither of them paid $45 and John is also not the person with the blue ball. Next time, I will have him read through word problems and write an equation to see how well this helped him pick out little words with big meanings. We also worked through some of these more logic based problems, and then we talked about how his work could have been shortened."
"Today the student practiced stoichiometry. We worked with converting between moles and mass in balanced chemical reactions. We discussed unit-analysis and how that can help her keep organized for long chemistry lessons."
"The students chose to learn the song Coup de Boule today. We went over word meaning and pronunciation and then sang it a few times together. Their homework is to continue practicing it to help work on their pronunciation."
