Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In preparation for the student's exam, we did review problems involving: sequences, series, comparison test, limits, convergence, divergence, and increasing/decreasing series."
"This session started with the student telling me he was happy with his performance on his last test. We started with physics applications, such as determining the length of a spiral. I answered the student's questions about the next section, logistic functions. I also provided a tip to help him ensure he doesn't skip any questions when taking a test."
"We reviewed the homework I assigned last night, and I corrected the ones he did wrong. For the homework I assigned him tonight, I expect him to have the problems done properly by next week."
"In today's session with the student, we covered statistical analysis and probability. During our session, the student initially struggled a bit with his critical thinking in analyzing biases in the statistical situations. However, he continued to improve as we completed more problems together, and I can tell he really enjoys this type of work. I am sure he will get better and better in his critical thinking as we continue to practice more. During the latter half of our session, we looked ahead to his probability section and discussed permutations. For extra practice, I told him to continue to practice his critical thinking in these types of statistical problems. I look forward to teaching him more about this interesting section of his math class."
"We covered 9th grade Geometry and Physics. In Physics, we covered conservation of momentum and motion mostly. The student said that she seemed to struggle with motion previously and wanted to review momentum, which is currently being taught in class. We went over problems from the book and some problems from her online homework website. The student seems to grasp equations very well and wishes to practice applying them conceptually to different problem types. In Geometry, we went over her proofs list and old "quick quizzes". The student says she has already gone over these quizzes and homework problems in class and simply needs to continue practicing these problems to feel confident. I encouraged her to explain the concepts to me in depth to demonstrate her own mastery of the material. Hopefully, this translates to more confidence on the test! I asked the student to mark down questions/topics she struggles with during the week. Next session, we plan to review older topics in both subjects to prepare for her upcoming finals."
"We went over previous addition and subtraction facts. We also covered the 2 multiples and days of the week (focusing on today, yesterday and tomorrow). He did well on these skills."
